What is a group?
A group is a spot for users who share a particular interest (or locale, eye color, favorite band, whatever) to join up, share photos with one another and discuss things in group-specific forums. The three main components of groups are:
Group Members: Groups can be public or private. For any public group, simply click "join the group" and you're in! Once you're a member of the group you can add photos to the group and join group discussions. You can join as many groups as you'd like, although we recommend joining groups you really have an interest in.
Group Photos: As a group member you can select photos to add to the group for others to see. Obviously, you want to be selective with what you're adding (since that's the point of a group). For example, if you're a member of the "Rodents are Rad" group, no one wants to see a photo of your car.
Group Discussions: One of the coolest aspects of groups is the ability to have discussions within a group. Get to know other group members, talk about how to capture a specific shot, ask for critiques, organize get-togethers, and so on.
Why would I join a group?
Because being alone is never as fun as being with a group! It's easy to get a group of people together with the same interests. Whether that be a group of photo students at a local high school, a group of nature photographers, a realtor association serving our area, or just a bunch of folks who love cats, it's always good to get together with people. Groups are a great place to share Capture Dallas with other people and get to know others in this great community.
What's the benefit of a group?
Everyone that's a part of a group can add photos to the group's pool of photos. Once you add your photo, other group members can see it, comment on it, vote for it, etc. All groups also have their own discussion boards so people in a group can talk amongst themselves.
How do I create a group?
It's easy! All you have to do is have an idea for a group, then fill out the new group form. Our admins will review it (quickly) and approve it unless it's some sort of sketchy group.
Can I join more than one group?
Yes. There's no limit on the number of groups you can be a part of.
How do I add my photos to the group?
Assuming you're a member of the group, simply click the "Add/Remove Photos" button, then pick the photo you want to add to the group and click "save." Remember to only add photos that fir with the group's theme.
