I went to the Dallas Arboretum last evening for a while, checking on the pumpkin village that is due to open September 23 and end November 22.

Just a tiny reminder by one leaf of our next season. I'm so ready, aren't y'all? The Chinese tallow tree is listed on the Texas invasive plants list. Even so, it starts early in showing there is some fall color coming. Just don't plant this tree as a part of your home landscaping--growing wild at White Rock Lake.

Sweet Little Screecher
When I approached the entrance to the Heard I saw an employee with this little screech owl. I didn't get the full story but it's obvious that the little owl had been injured in a bad way.--broken wing, loss of right eye. She had the little one outside so she could show and tell the children as they came in. Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary.
